Type of NYSC Certificates
The NYSC administers three (3) distinct forms of certificates to Nigerian graduates:
Discharge Certificate
This credential is bestowed upon individuals who successfully conclude a one-year National Youth Service program.
Exemption Document/Letter
This designation applies to individuals surpassing the age of 30, those who have completed at least a year of service in the Nigerian military or paramilitary, and graduates facing physical challenges that preclude participation in the National Service program.
Exclusion Notice/Letter
Primarily issued to part-time graduates, alumni of Colleges of Education, and those who graduated from the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN).
How to Retrieved Lost/Misplaced NYSC Certificate
In the unfortunate event of losing your NYSC certificate due to incidents like fire accidents, theft, or misplacement, here are the necessary steps to follow:
- Obtain a Police Report/Extract.
- Utilize the Police Report to obtain a Court Affidavit.
- Acquire a Letter of Introduction from the State of Service (where you completed your service).
- If available, provide a copy of the lost certificate.
- Draft a formal request letter (Addressed to the NYSC DG).
- Present the aforementioned documents at the NYSC Headquarters.
Please be aware that the NYSC adheres to a policy of not reprinting lost or damaged certificates. Instead, they issue a letter of confirmation in such cases.
